Education system in Hong Kong

The educational system in Hong Kong are based on the British style, starts with kindergarten, primary schools, secondary schools and move on to Universities.

It is often claimed that the education style in Hong Kong focus too much on memorising, which limited the development of student's creativity and imagination. This recite style of education however do have its advantages compare to other education system in terms of the quality of its production - student.

Compare to students from other countries, Hong Kong student usually shows their ability in answering questions. Hong Kong student was trained to answer questions in a direct way, to fill in main points only. This is always a great advantage for Hong Kong people to do things effectively.

Secondly, student in Hong Kong started to learn both English and Chinese from 3 years-old. A good bilingual ability gives Hong Kong students stronger competitiveness with in the world, especially under the rapid growth of the chinese economy.

presentation review

First I have to say sorry about not taking any notes,すみません。 cos I am too focus in listening~*
So I just talk about those I can remember.

One thing surprised me is that not only young people in Japan watch anime, but also adult << of course not counting お宅~ I used to think that Japanese people don't really like watching anime though~
I still can really understand the differences between お宅andニートbtw, maybe I will ask Phillip san again for this~* Actually I do agree that the movie 電車男 do affect Hong Kong people's mind a lot, creating negative images to those お宅<< including me...... which might not be true.

Another thing that is quite interesting is none of the people filling in the questions have been to either Ocean park and Disneyland. Some people don't even know there is a Disneyland in hong kong@@ Unbelievable!!!!!

About suggestion though, I think we can try to catch people on the street and talk to them in Japanese~*
It should be interesting to see people's reaction XD

personal pronoun project

Different to the language of other countries like Chinese and English,  modern Japanese use a lots of words to express the word 'I'. Although all these pronouns give the same meaning, we can see from these words a person's character, personality and as well social states. This is mainly because of these pronouns at the same time being 役割語, which are words that only a particular type of people say, give us the image of the person's character. This is very useful in comics help in state clear each character's personality for example like ぼく(僕) mainly use for young kid and おれ(俺) for strong man. As I believe our classmate can find lots of these examples from books, I would like to view these Japanese pronouns from a different way-- Music.

This song is talking about a group of younger want to be a rock star, and personal pronoun used in this song is ぼく(僕). This pronoun work as a important role in this song building up the image of young people, as well their feeling of not sure about the future.

What if they use おれ(俺) instead of ぼく(僕)?

The feeling of the song will be totally different, show no more the unsure and will not deliver the feeling to the listener.

Hilcrhyme

It's alright

everythings gonna be alright

I don't care

This is another song on the other hand talking about a man giving confident to his girlfriend.
We can see a lot of おれ(俺) in this song, but why?
This is because 俺 is a very masculine pronoun that shows a man being confident to himself, and this can give a more strong feeling when saying 大丈夫to someone.
One of the interesting point in this song is that in ''それはきっとのせいと'' He use the pronoun わたし(私). I think this is because at that point he is apologising, which 俺 is not suitable.

In conclusion, personal pronoun not only state the personality of the character, but as well show the feelings. However pronoun might change even on the same person base on different situation like apologise or order.

For me, I think I will use 僕 as my personal pronoun maybe because I am not a aggressive person.

Japanese Geography Project

This Chinese new year holiday me and my family just went for a trip to Japan Kyushu(九州).
Our destination included Ibusuki(指宿市), Miyazaki(宮崎県)and Kagoshima (鹿児島市).

Kyushu is the third largest island, which located in the south-west part of Japan. the weather is so much like what we have in Hong Kong,  relatively warm in winter and often rain in summer.

Ibusuki(指宿市)was the first place we went to during the trip, located in the very south part of Kyushu. Ibusuki is very famous in hot spring(温泉) especially the sand bath(砂蒸し風呂) that can only found there. Ngazakibana( 長崎鼻)was the south end of the whole Japan, which facing the pasific ocean. ikedaco(池田湖)is the largest lake in in kyushu, which was famous that a monster called イッシー living inside it.

Miyazaki(宮崎県)was as well in the south part of Japan, which one of the famous jinja utojinku(鵜戸神宮)was located there. we as well went to the heiwadaicoen(平和台公園)which a huge tower heiwanoto(平和の塔)was built in there. Quite interesting that is when you crap your hand in front of the tower you will hear a bip sound come out from the tower.

Kagoshima (鹿児島市)was the last place we went to during the trip. It is next to a huge vocaino sakurajima(桜島火山)that we even can see smoke coming out from there. We can see the full view of Kagoshima city as well the Sakurajima on the shiroyamacoen(城山公園), just like the peak we have in Hong Kong that every tourist will go there.

Japanese writing projects

This is the rubber I have in my pen case.
We can see it is written as けしごむ on the cover.
Normally it should be written kanji+Katakana+hiragana style
the reason why muji has put it like this is because of it's brand style of simple and local Japanese culture.
